Be heard. Be seen. Be you.

A New Era

It’s been over a month – actually about a month and a half – since my last post here.

I never meant to take a break. But it was well-needed amongst a stressful time in my life. In the last month and a half, I signed a lease for an apartment close to my full-time job, went through a rough heartbreak and realizing some friends weren’t truly my friends, and moved.

As I’m writing this, I’m still in the process of unpacking – not just the boxes and bins and bags, but also emotionally.

This blog started as a way to share my vision and favorite things – but it slowly became a chore. And I hated that I felt that way about something I was so passionate about.

But things are changing. Not just for me in life, but also here in the blog.

I will still be posting “How I Would Adapt” posts because I genuinely love doing those. But the long lists of recommendations are going to stop unless I’m actually passionate about the topic.

I want to do more reviews now that I’ll have more than two hours of free time after work. (At least, I will once I finish unpacking my apartment.)

I want to expand from books and movies and music. I want to try new things. I want to cultivate a place I feel myself in. I want a place I feel heard and seen in outside of my daily career.

So, I’m going to be continuing my break and focusing on unpacking my apartment and feelings and everything in between.

But come sometime this fall (hopefully by October), I’ll be settled and starting to post again.

So, what can you expect from me when I come back?

  • Expect more “How I Would Adapt” about books, games, etc. that I genuinely love and have a vision for.
  • Expect new content focused on my personal life. I want to put that stuff out there because I don’t want people feeling alone like I did during this break. I want them to find out that what they’re going through isn’t the worst thing that’s happening and they can make it through.
  • Expect new branding. The current palette and vibe I have now was perfect when I started – but it’s not me anymore. It hasn’t been for a while.
  • Expect me expanding into videos and photography again. Expect new projects.
  • Expect a new tone – one that feels more me and less reporter. I left journalism in the past for a reason, and it’s time to fully let it go.
  • And lastly, expect a more authentic place that welcomes comments and suggestions and community. I’ve always wanted to cultivate a community that uplifts and supports each other – and that’s exactly what I plan to do.

If you’re curious about the move, I’ll write about it in the future, but I’ll slowly be posting videos about it on TikTok and Instagram and possibly YouTube shorts.

Check me out on my other platforms in the meantime using the handle @ImKaitMae.

I’ll see you all later. Have a good day.

I mean it.

Go out and have a good day. Don’t let the haters get you down. And if they do, turn on some music that you love and have a dance party, even if people are watching. Dance through the aisles of the grocery store if you must!

I’m Kait

Welcome to my blog, Kait Mae. I created the blog in college as an assignment, then rebooted it when I worked for a newspaper as a creative outlet for articles that wouldn’t get published or some that I loved after I left that job. But after nearly two years, I’m rebooting it again as a creative outlet where I can share my thoughts on pop culture and media.

I hope you’ll stay awhile and check it out.
