Be heard. Be seen. Be you.

My Love Story: Long Distance

So, I got to see Aiden* last weekend, and it was awesome.

We just click and it’s like the world is clearer and sharper.  However, I’m not wearing rose-colored glasses.  We talked about the whole Navy and long distance thing.  I talked about my qualms about it and he was very understanding.  Then, he explained his situation in life and I listened and understood what he was saying.

But, we did talk about the fact that he would be stationed in a different country for 3 years, and we didn’t know when exactly he would be leaving.

(Now, I know I’m gonna get a few head shakes and a few “you’re so dumb” from some of you, but I don’t care.)

We decided to go ahead and give it a shot.  I understand that it’s going to be hard, but he’s the first guy I’ve liked that completely eased my anxiety about a relationship.  And for me, that’s really important in a partner.

So, Aiden’s my boyfriend.  I have a little smile on my face as I think about it.  My Navy man.

We haven’t talked about the future as in what happens after he gets back, but we have time.  It’s not important right now, but what is important is the time he does have before he leaves.  We talk everyday and I’m constantly learning new things about him.

But, anyhow, I’ve told a few friends about the whole thing, but it’s been pretty low-key in what I’m used to, and it’s really nice.  I have yet to tell my family, or post anything really about it, but I have updated my status on Instagram to taken, so that’s something.  He’s not much into social media, but he understands that it’s a big part of my future career.

Anyway, Tuesday, I’ll have an article about first dates.  Have a great weekend, y’all!

I’m Kait

Welcome to my blog, Kait Mae. I created the blog in college as an assignment, then rebooted it when I worked for a newspaper as a creative outlet for articles that wouldn’t get published or some that I loved after I left that job. But after nearly two years, I’m rebooting it again as a creative outlet where I can share my thoughts on pop culture and media.

I hope you’ll stay awhile and check it out.
