My Opinion on Relationships

In case you couldn’t tell this past month, most of my posts have been about love and that kind of stuff.  So, to end this month, I’ve decided to give my honest opinions on relationships.

First, I want to explain my love life situation.  I have had a few boyfriends, some serious, some not so serious.  I used to think being in a relationship was what would make me happy, so I jumped into one as soon as someone was interested in me.  Nowadays, since getting out of a three-month relationship right after New Year’s, I’ve realized that I was wrong to do that.  A relationship shouldn’t be a comfort zone; it should be something to share and grow with someone you really care about.  I realized this after really falling for a close friend of mine.  We’re not in a relationship right now, but if I was to get into a relationship, it would be with him.

Funny enough, I was talking to him about relationships, and we agreed on one thing.  Being in a relationship just for the sake of being in a relationship is overrated.  Many of my friends keep telling me that relationships, in general, are overrated.

And, honestly, I’m in college.  My mom already told me not to settle down right now; to date around, go on a lot of dates with other guys, explore my options.  And I have.  And I know what I want, in a relationship, in life, and just in general.

So, in conclusion, I just wanted to give some advice to all of my readers:

  1. If you like someone, tell them.  The worst that could happen is they don’t like you back.
  2. If someone can’t see how amazing you are, they don’t deserve you.
  3. If someone doesn’t put in any effort to keep you, don’t put in any effort.  It’s not worth it.

That’s all I have to say on this topic right now.  Maybe in a couple months, or even a year, I’ll have more to say.  But, for now, that’s all, and I hope this helped some of you with your own love lives this past month.  And those three pieces of advice I’ve learned from personal experience, so I know they’re true.

I’m Kait

Welcome to my blog, Kait Mae. I created the blog in college as an assignment, then rebooted it when I worked for a newspaper as a creative outlet for articles that wouldn’t get published or some that I loved after I left that job. But after nearly two years, I’m rebooting it again as a creative outlet where I can share my thoughts on pop culture and media.

I hope you’ll stay awhile and check it out.
